I have covered lots of applications to
create bootable USB pen drives of Windows and Linux. But to my knowledge, this is the first time that I am going to review a multiboot bootable USB maker software. It is called
XBOOT. Most bootable USB makers support single OS to create a bootable USB and consequently we end up wasting lots of free USB space. Like for example, Windows 7 requires 2.5GB to 3GB maximum but we have to use a 4GB pen drive to create the bootable USB. Windows 7 booting files take approx. 2.5GB worth of space and leave the other 1.5GB space useless. Using XBOOT, we can use all the spare space to burn another operating system image on the same USB pen drive. XBOOT is an easy-to-use utility for creating Multiboot USB/ISO. You can easily combine bootable ISO files of XP, 7, 8, Vista and Linux into one single USB pen drive in case you have a large capacity USB pen drive. Using this utility, you can create a multiboot pen drive which contains Antivirus rescue along with Windows. It is a drag-&-drop support application – just drop any ISO file on the XBOOT interface and create your multiboot pen drive in a few clicks.
This can be a blessing for computer hardware and software engineers because it can make their operating system CD collection more compact. As of now, computer users who have little or no technical knowledge still burn ISO files in separate CD or DVD which increases computing costs unnecessarily. Bootable CD/DVDs need more care than a bootable USB pen drive and as we all know, pen drives have a longer shelf life than CD/DVDs when it comes to data saving. One other thing that I found interesting in this utility is that you can test your multiboot image with built-in virtualization QEMU.
Edit MultiBoot USB tab can be used to edit the chosen USB device which you want to make multibootable and advanced users can edit config file to get some more features. In the file menu, you will see one Download option which is very useful to download ISO files from the internet. Using this Download option, you can download many useful bootable disks like antivirus rescue ISO, Linux ISO images, Utilities ISO images and many more. There are some more useful options available in this application so you need to experiment a bit to understand all the features.
You can use XBOOT on Windows XP, 7, Vista and Windows 8 as well in both 32bit and 64bit of Windows version.
